The Indigo...

Firstly I would like to thank the Earth Angel, who asked me about Indigo children, for inspiring this blog. I was sitting at my computer asking for guidance on how to proceed, when this beautiful soul just popped right out with the question about indigo's on the Angel Wings and Faery Dust Facebook page. So thank you.

Well, what is an Indigo Child?
Please understand that what I write here is merely the bare bones of an exhaustive topic. I suggest if this is a burning topic of interest for you, that you can get a lot of information just by googling "Indigo Child". Beware as well of information that seems derogatory or harmful in any way. Information that is truly from a divine source will never be harmful and will never be hurtful (although sometimes it is painful to hear information you didn't/don't want confirmed).

Indigo children have been appearing in great numbers for a couple of generations. I would say they first started making a significant appearance around the late 50's. Indigo's are characterised by their sense of social justice in particular. They are spiritual warriors who arrived to change the balance of power in big and small ways. Indigo's fight or rail against any form of injustice and are prepared to take action to stop it. Think of all the social mile stones made in the last 50 years in terms of humanitarian rights and a sense of the 'justice for all' concept being made a reality. This is the work of the indigo's. I cannot help but think there is a special connection between indigo children and the Archangel Michael. He is the sword carrier and the bringer of divine justice, and his colour is purple.

Indigo's arrived (and are still arriving) to clear the way for Crystal and Rainbow Children who are starting to appear in greater numbers now. They are gentler of spirit than the indigo.

The Indigo is an earthly manifestation and in no way connected to any of the Realms of Origin to my way of understanding. Having said this, there are certain realms who display stronger indigo traits than others.

You can feel the shift in energy and understanding when you are witnessing the work of very strong indigo's. They are leaders who incite others around them to change. They are powerful speakers (especially when the cause is about equity) and they are charismatic. Change happens when a strong indigo insists it should.

Some indigo's are more subtle and gentle warriors, but no less effective in bringing about a change for the better.

As an indigo myself, I have always been brought to wrath at injustice, and sickened by acts of violence or cruelty. I have never been able to hold my tongue when these issues have come to my attention. This has often caused trouble for myself and the people around me, especially in those teenage years where hormones are added to the mix. I am especially moved to fury at injustices perpetrated on the defenseless and will move to intervene where I can either through direct confrontation, reporting incidents, letter writing, petitions, whatever it takes to change. I at times, have felt despondent when I couldn't effect a change.

I love teaching Indigo children as well. Perhaps because I am comfortable with their style and their ability to speak out. The student in the classroom who "perceives" you being unfair to one of their classmates and will risk the teacher's wrath to point it out no matter what the consequences to themselves...more than likely an indigo. Highly creative thinkers who find 10 solutions to the teacher's 4...quite possibly an indigo. The student so sensitive that a change in the classroom climate or dynamic distresses them greatly...could be indigo. The student who appears to mind read, but is really able to pick up subtle changes in body language and all other non-verbals...might be indigo. Combine all of these things, and you are definitely standing in front of an indigo child. They are a joy as well as a constant source of frustration as teenagers. During this time they are egocentric (as all of us are in this point in our lives) and it is difficult at times to encourage them to see the biggest picture. So what in their perception might seem unjust, is in fact, with a little more time and a bigger view of the picture, completely equitable. A volatile bunch to be sure.

There are many good sources of information about Indigo's, Crystals and Rainbow Children (also some really bad ones), so research thoroughly and get some different view points before you make up your mind.
