It's all about perspective really

Exponential learning curve for me in the last few months has been the concept of choosing the way I view potentially negative situations. There are a lot of times in my profession (my real world profession of teaching that is) where I am confronted with massive amounts of ego, of people taking things personally and then seeking revenge and general nastiness.

I have often struggled in coping with these situations without feeling large amounts of heart hurt. It makes me feel terribly sad to see the way human beings treat each other, it is only us, of all creation, that has this incredible sense of cruelty towards others of our kind. *sad

I choose a different perspective, that has been long in the learning/remembering and understanding of. Often I have heard people say, "Just smile, it will either make them warm to you, or annoy them, either way, you win" While I don't necessarily subscribe to this exactly, the intent is sound.

During a particularly trying time of judgement and conflict with and from others, I finally found myself in a place to practise seeing differently in a way that was easy.

I have a fantastic imagination and I bought it into play in this defining moment. *smile* It was like this; a beautiful light bringer friend of mine sees the love energy we share as brightly coloured bubbles (awesome right?) and so, when I felt myself subjected to some not very pleasant "stuff" I pictured myself blowing love bubbles at them. Soon, I saw the tantrums as amusing rather than annoying, I saw the nasty comments as a reflection of their lack of self worth rather than a personal affront to me (I know this is still a judgement...baby steps...*smile*) and I looked at all of these behaviours from INSIDE the biggest, most multi-coloured love bubble you could ever imagine. It worked. I came home feeling NO impact whatsoever from THEIR CHOICES...none!

There was a moment or two where even the love bubble trick was not working, and in those moments I sang a little nonsensical ditty inside my head that went something along the lines of, "There's a light being here, and another over there, there is light in their clothes, their is light in their hair, there's a lot of lovely light in the air, everywhere, it's a lovely kind of day."  Who couldn't be smiling after singing this to themselves? *Laugh* This served to remind me that even though the current actions chosen were not from a place of love, that the amazing light bringer was in there still, and that was who I would choose to see and direct my attention to.

The FREEDOM I feel today is amazing....I released my need to judge others for their actions, embraced the love and light that resides within us all regardless of our current choices...and I did it all by singing and imagining big bubbles of love...how easy is that!?

Sticks and stones

I'm sure you have heard the saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."?

Quite frankly...I don't agree....

I had a wonderful moment with a student last week. A young girl who is constantly saying she's "dumb" "stupid" and all other sorts of words that mean she thinks very little of her intellectual ability. I see this ALL the time at work, especially since I am a math teacher, and traditionally, this is an area where a lot of students struggle....mainly because they don't believe they can....frustrating.

Well, this beautiful being was telling me again that she was/is stupid during the course of a conversation. I stopped her mid sentence, quite abruptly, and gave her a little shove (metaphorically) along a better path for her. I let her in on "The secret law of the universe" *grin* I told her that everything she tells herself she will believe. Other students drifted over to hear and join in the conversation. We talked a little more about manifesting our reality...what we say and think is what we'll get..couched all in a very general and non-threatening way. Within a few minutes I didn't have to say any more, the students were swapping stories between themselves, and I just drifted away...I was no longer required in that conversation...teenagers are amazing beings.

You see, whatever we say about ourselves, our situation, or other people is sort of like putting in an order with the cosmic kitchen. The words you use and the intent behind them are powerful things, the universe and our divine team will always deliver to us what we expect. Make a conscious effort to use only positive and loving words to talk to yourself or about others and see the amazing changes that occur.

When I think a day might be terrible...

There are some days, and I know we've all had them, where I wake up, think of the day ahead, and instead of being filled with gratitude and delight for the day to come, I feel a sense of dread or foreboding. These times are usually when I have something to do that I feel may be unpleasant.

Having had enough lessons now in the power of thoughts *wry grin* I choose not to dwell on the negative thoughts my brain might be trying to convince me are the events to come.

Instead, i choose to send forth love into the day ahead of me. I consciously project love energy and positivity into the day imagining that there is a rosy gold light coming from me, travelling down the time line into the rest of the day...all this before I get out of bed. *smile*

Any moment I feel could be unpleasant is layered with love, healing, forgiveness and the expectation that things will turn out well. Then, as I approach the moment, I imagine seeing all of this amazing wonderfulness waiting for me there where I sent it earlier.

This visualisation helps to calm my fears, distance myself from the emotions I choose not to feel, and to have a sense of expectation rather than dread or fear.

As is the nature and laws of the divine universe, the things we focus on the most are what we will actually achieve.

A GREAT example is a supervision class I was asked to take. This is where a teacher goes in to take over from another teacher because they are away; so the class is not your own, the subject is often one you're not qualified to teach, there is no rapport with the students a lot of the time, and students usually see this as an opportunity to show their least angelic faces...after all, why not if you can get away with it? *grin* I looked at the class list and did a bit of a mental shudder. I looked at the subject and thought, "I am well out of my depth here." I thought to myself, "this could get ugly!"

Giving myself a shake, I immediately snipped off this thread of thought and started visualising what I expected to happen in a positive and loving way. I sent my love before me, and had the most awesome and amazing lesson with a group of students I don't usually have much contact with. I got to praise their efforts, thank them for their courtesy and consideration and reward them by taking them out from class a few minutes early to lunch!!!!!!

Awesome!

Just keep at it

So many times this week I have heard people say, "I am so totally over this week, cannot be over fast enough," myself most definitely included in this!!!

Some weeks, it seems, no matter where people are on their journey or the path they may be choosing to take, we all come into sync on the fact that it's been "one of those" weeks or days. *smile* I love the synchronisity of this for many reasons, the main one being that at least I have an inkling that if everyone is having a terrible seeming week, it is probably some major shift going on energetically and not just me going crazy.

You know what I find the most beautiful, amazing and comforting fact abut the path I have chosen? With my faith and belief in the divine, in myself and in my journey, I can look at these weeks or days, I can wish them done, but all the way through, i KNOW that there is something amazing and wonderful and miraculous just around the corner. In this way, "one of those weeks" never turns into one of those years any more.

I am comforted by the perspective that all things must come to an end, even a seemingly bad week. All things we experience are really only a moment in time, no matter how terrible they feel and are at the time.

With this in mind...I just keep at it! That is my entire strategy for dealing with moments in time that are awful whether physically, emotionally or spiritually....just keep going, keep standing, keep dreaming keep moving...just keep at it and find the next moment.

Thoughts

Often I have spoken about the use of words and the fact that our words have power. This holds true in SO many ways. The way we voice things has an energetic impact on our "reality". Focusing and voicing all the seemingly negative aspects of our lives, brings about more negativity...it is the law of attraction...the universe will provide more of what you think about and speak about the most.

On this point as well though, I felt it's necessary today to specifically mention that our thoughts are the same as words to the universe and to the divine.

Our thoughts and our capacity for co-creating are so powerful, in fact, that they have the ability to make or break us.

Most of the things that cause us pain, do so because of the way we think about them.

I know that seems really dumb...after all you can't help thinking about some things, especially things that have a massive impact on you personally...well I know I can't stop thinking about things like that.

The message I got today though clarified this concept for me a little more. It is not thinking about something that makes it painful, it is the WAY we think about it that can be harmful for us.

Thoughts are choice and are subject to our free will. No one can control what and how you think about things, although some people may try to influence those thoughts. *smile* It is one place where we are totally free.

I am practising the art of distancing myself from negativity in my thoughts. So while I may still recall the events of a seemingly negative moment, by changing my thought pattern and viewing the event in my thoughts with detachment and without getting caught up in blaming, accusing, judging or anything else like that (remember I said I am practising) I am finding it easier and easier to move past difficult moments.

With a heart full of gratitude

You know that when we each look at the world, it is through our very own, unique set of filters. Our filters are determined by our experiences, our perceptions, our innate personality and our choices. There is nothing wrong with having filters, in fact, they can be quite useful; for example, I choose the filter of positivity and delight as a lense through which I view the world. However, knowledge of our own particular filters is also quite useful.

Yesterday was one of those days where I was looking through a filter of frustration..... as you can imagine, nothing flowed very smoothly for me yesterday, I didn't get a great deal done, and what I did get done took FOREVER!!!!! *wry smile*

Today, before I got out of bed, I went through my mental, "Things I am grateful for" list. I smiled to myself, and thought, "I believe I have just chosen today's filter."

Everything was easy today! Nothing had changed about my world from yesterday, all things were the same, the house was still in the same state, the work was still piled up where I left it in disgust and frustration yesterday, the cat still disliked me...nothing had changed about the physical world. What HAD changed, was the filter I was using.

So I looked at the "stuff" I had on my 'to do' list, I asked myself the "Why does this matter and why am I doing it?' question, got straight to the heart of the matter and then away I went. I chose to be grateful I had things to work on, grateful for my Derwent pencils, grateful for the computer that had given me a frustrated feeling the day before, amazingly grateful for beautiful people who believe my words have some value for them, grateful for my perspective on the world, grateful for the mess in my house which tells me I have enough "stuff" to be messy and a place to be messy in...and on it went.

While I looked through the filter of frustration yesterday, all of these things were a "problem" for me. When I changed the filter to gratitude, they all became a delight and wonder and filled my heart.

With a heart full of gratitude and the love and wonder that brings, ALL things are possible and easy.

When you are afraid

One of the most insidious of all human constructs is fear. It can get in under your skin when you least expect it and make you feel as though you "can't" as though there is "danger" as though you are not "worthy" and all of those other things that go with fear.

NONE of these things are real, they are illusionary. While I know this is a really easy thing to say, it can be just as easy to put into place and remember in those times when fear seems to be taking over.

Change in sometimes uncomfortable, and difficult (well seemingly anyway) and these are the times when fear will start to make itself known and try to stop you. This is your brain talking, not your heart; it is the ego, not pure love and definitely not from a divine origin...my rule of thumb? If it's negative, it is not divine.

I have a sure fire strategy that works for me when I feel the tendrils of fear start to creep into my thinking...I sing.

Yep, loudly (and badly sometimes) I sing and sing and sing. It is really hard to focus on fear when you are singing. I pick a song that motivates and inspires me, that matches the mood of where I choose to be, and I sing it. Sometimes inside my head, sometimes out loud, but I sing.

Fear is a defence mechanism our brain uses to keep us firmly in our comfort zone. Letting go of fear means embracing the magnificence of the world and all that it offers those who walk boldly.

Why would you care?????

I down loaded this photo today from a facebook page called Lessons Learnt in Life and was really inspired by the message.
It got me to thinking again about the attraction principle.

Spending time on the negative things, negative people or their actions, only puts the intent out to the universe that you would like to receive more of the same. The universe only provides, or you only attract, more of what you think the most about.

I was thinking also of all the time and energy I have consciously invested in dwelling on an aspect of my day which may have involved people being mean, nasty and downright horrible either to me or to someone else. These actions make me a little mad, they definitely make me feel sad and heart weary and also tend to give me a feeling of helplessness to help another see that their actions only cause hurt.

This image was/is a perfect divine reminder that while people may choose their actions to be hurtful and negative, that does not mean it has to be their impact.

Letting go of the actions of others, taking on board only those things that make you feel joyful and full of light, and spending time and energy only on those who share that joy is an amazing way to turn your life to the path you choose for yourself.

Ask, expect, receive...

There are three key ingredients to manifesting (or creating) the life you want on the path you choose.

First you have to ask for what you want. This may seem simple, and of course it is; however, there are a couple of little pit falls. You have to know your own heart and know that what you "want" is truly what you WANT, if you know what I mean? This is a heart driven action, a moment where you put your brain aside and let your heart lead you to the situations, things and people you really desire, rather than what you think you "should" have. These are two totally different things. The second thing that it is important to consider is that the "things" you want are things that create love and joy. Asking for things, people and situations that will hurt others is only going top cause harm, and mostly to you. Definitely a case of "be careful what you wish for."

The second, and I think the most important, aspect of creating your divine reality, is expecting that you will get it. Have courage and confidence; remember you have an entire divine team ready to back you up and to help you to achieve your goals. When your intentions come from love, and you focus your will, the the entire universe will organise things to the way you desire. Expect that it will happen!

Then open your heart to receiving! This is the one some people (actually a lot of people) get stuck on. There is nothing wrong with expecting and receiving things for yourself. When you are happy and joyful and full of love, then you will add tremendous energy to the world. That is exactly what the world needs...love and positive energy, so go for it! You are not only worthy, but totally deserving of every happiness your heart can imagine, so give your heart free reign and receive all the goodness and joy that are your birth right.

Relax, you're safe!

I wonder through life at the moment finding that there is nothing that can make me mad, I mean truly mad, not just annoyed for a minute, there is nothing that can make me feel guilt, shame or any of those other very human emotions. There is nothing that has the power or ability to shatter my calm and my sense of balance....

...when I realise this, I went, "HOLY COW! WOOOOHOOOOO!"... *laugh*

So, then I get to wandering how this could be, since there are plenty of reasons I could be stressed, could be angry and frustrated, have the potential to be embarrassed or guilty about. So.....what's the go?

Then, I hear this little voice whisper to me, "relax, you're safe." I took a really deep breath, I closed my eyes for a brief moment and revelled in the warm and fuzzy feeling creeping down from my head to my toes! "That's right," I reminded myself.

You see, it is really hard to get upset, angry, frustrated, embarrassed, guilty or fearful when you KNOW there are an entire team of angels and divine beings, a beautiful Earth and Universal spirit that is looking out for me. With all that I am learning (and sharing) I have no idea why I was momentarily surprised that I was not being impacted by negativity any more.

This is the power of hope, faith, trust and belief. No matter what you choose to call your spiritual connection; if you place your trust and faith in it and choose belief and a deep love of yourself over martyrdom and denial of the beauty that is uniquely you...WOW...amazing the power, confidence and tranquillity that is the result.

Follow your heart, follow the promptings of your intuition and relax, you are safe.

When things go wrong

I was thinking yesterday about what happens when things go wrong, meaning not in the way we may have planned or intended. It is really easy to say to someone who is having this difficulty, "But there is a lesson for you to learn, or perhaps this is the way it was meant to be," However, if you are the person who is facing the difficult road and experiencing the discomforts, none of these sayings actually provide much comfort or help out in the situation.

For instance, yesterday I flew with my 4 year old from North Queensland where we live, to visit my oldest son in Brisbane. We woke at 6am in order to get to the airport 2 hours drive away, the required hour before departure time at 11am. We arrived at the airport just after 10am and settled in with a snack box and a few stories to wait out the hour. Just for a bit of background information, the four year old has been counting down the days till he sees his big brother for about a month; he was terribly excited and therefore was having some difficulty being patient and sitting still. "It's only an hour to wait, then an hour and a half flight, we'll be fine" I was thinking to myself.
We board the aircraft, all is well. We seemed to be waiting a really long time to taxi onto the runway. This is a really small airport with only two flights a day, so I knew we weren't waiting our turn at the runway. The pilot comes over the intercom and informs us there is a slight technical difficulty and they were waiting on the civil aviation authority to give them clearance to fly. next thing we all know, we are being disembarked with apologies and the hope the problem would be rectified soon. OK, so now we were facing a four hour delay with a tired and excited four year old...still manageable, can still find ways to make this work without us both going a bit crazy. i offered up a silent thank you to my team for helping the crew see the problem before we were air born (could have been a far worse scenario) and settled in to wait. As the time dragged on and there seemed to be no solution forth coming, the little on being more and more affected by the stress energy of all of the people around us and therefore being aggressive, and loud and rude, I began to feel a little of the stress myself.

I told myself that there was a message in this and all of those other things, but as you can imagine, it was not helping at the time. I had choices naturally. I could just jump on the blame band waggon with the other 100 or so passengers, this would have been easiest. However, I chose to offer up a silent wish for a resolution to the situation. I asked that everyone involved was kept calm, that there was a solution on the way that would keep everyone happy, that there was a way in which the four year old could be prevented from going supernova as I had run out of distraction and entertainment ideas (In my defence, it ended up being a 6 hour delay).

So what happened? I felt immediately calmer and felt the effects of everyone else's stress wash off me. A little girl came over and asked to play and read stories to my little one, thereby keeping them both distracted. The mother of this other child an I made eye contact and sighed in unison, knowing our babies were still safe under our watchful eyes, but happy in each others company, and to top it all off, we were able to board and be on our way not long after.

The lesson? Who knows *laugh* the reason? I don't need to know *smile* We stayed, we were calm, we were safe, the solution came to hand and now...we move on.

Thanks team for helping out, glad I could do whatever job it was I needed to do.

Soul singing

Do you know that moment when your soul sings just to hear a certain word, smell a certain smell, listen to a particular song. You smile, a secret smile, that no one but you knows what it is for or about, and they don't need to?

It's like when you're reading a book in a public place and you laugh out loud or start to cry because of the story you are reading. It's between you and the characters of the story you are reading, and yet it has touched you and is so profound that everyone can see the impact even though they do not understand.

Do you find yourself reliving these moments just to experience these feelings again? The moment where your soul sang, your heart reached from within you and tried to fly away just because it could no longer be held?

These moments, however fleeting they may be at times, are the reason we are here.

Revel in the feeling, embrace it, seek it out. For this feeling is the feeling you have when you walk the path you agreed to for this life. This is the moment when your team is whispering in your ear and miracles seem to happen and the world is an amazing and beautiful place where anything seems possible.

This is each of our destinies and our birth right, to walk this path and live a life of these moments.

In the time it does not work this way, and your heart aches for something it doesn't know it is missing; it is also these moments that can give you the strength to move forward, to push past the anxiety, fear and sadness. It is the memory of the moment that moves you towards the next one.

Take a chance

Occupy Your Heart: Facebook page
Have you ever heard a little voice in your head telling you to, "Stop being a silly dreamer"? Has anyone in your life said something similar to you; maybe told you to "be realistic" or to "get real"? Anyone ever told you that you need to stop dreaming and get on with living in the real world? That your dreams are impossible or too far fetched? Well, then this post is dedicated to you!

There are many people in this world who have unfortunately taken upon the message that "life is not fair" you "have to work hard to get anywhere" and that it is better to dream small dreams and have success than to dream ENORMOUSLY and fail spectacularly.

This post is for you guys too.

I really love the saying, "If your dreams don't scare you, you are not dreaming big enough."

There are absolutely NO limits, criteria or restrictions on the world of possibility. If there's one thing I know with all of my heart it is that while I may take risks and chance a failure, the rewards and the successes are worth it.

Taking a chance in order to follow your heart and make your dreams manifest into reality is actually not a big risk anyway. When you commit your whole heart to a love-driven dream, the entire universe will align to assist you in getting there. Your whole divine team will jump up and down for joy and sing a song of joy and praise. You will be scared, but it is not a limiting fear, it is the pure adrenaline that precipitates great action and amazing energy and results.

After all, what have you really got to loose?

Follow your heart, ignore what "reality" your pride and experience tells you and listen to the whisperings of your heart and your divine team.

What did you expect?

Have you ever noticed that what you expect, is usually exactly what you will get?

This is born out in front of me every single day at school. You know there are some of our cherubs who choose behaviour that is less than exemplary? They do so with reason usually. However, putting this aside, teenagers as a rule, are incredibly intuitive as well. By instinct, the act almost completely from intuition. Our children KNOW what we think of them and what we expect from them, and they generally act accordingly. I have seen this happen too many times to doubt the truth of it.

As a fantastic example, there is this one particular student I worked with a few years ago. I had been warned before starting that there was nothing anyone could "do" with this student, that his prospects were dismal and that the chances of "getting anything out of him" were minimal. Therefore, I was instructed, "Don't waste your time."

HOLY COW! I thought to myself, "Is this a child we are talking about or what?"

To me, this situation presents a wonderful challenge, one I am more than happy to take up.

I watched this student for a couple of lessons, making no comment to him and no attempt to correct his behaviours or redirect him in any way. Basically, I watched and worked out his patterns and the way he operated. I know he was doing the same to me especially because I was not acting in the way he expected a teacher to act. I decided (with a little divine assistance...gee it's great having these guys on my side) that I would have to "play" this situation very carefully or risk loosing his attention completely. So for a little while, I did nothing except come to class, teach those willing to learn and discretely watch those who were not. At a certain point not too far into the term, I asked those who were not engaged (in particular this student) to stay behind after class. I spoke to them for the first time then about their choices of language, behaviour and work ethic. I lied to them! Sounds bad huh?

This is what I told them:
I informed them that I was a little disappointed that other teachers in the school had been less than forthcoming about the students at the school. That I had been told by other teachers that the class I had received was one of the best in the school, that the students were dedicated and that they really were willing to give it their best, even though sometimes it was hard. I told them that I was a little saddened to find out that maybe this was not true, and that I hoped and expected that this was just a couple of bad days rather than a habit. I expressed my wish that they were all the young men (they were all boys obviously) I had been told I was teaching, and that we would forget the last week and start fresh next lesson. With that, I dismissed them.

As you can imagine, this was so totally NOT what they expected from me. However, I did not walk into that class with any expectations for their behaviour, I just watched and waited for the right opportunity. I DID let them in on my expectations and what I "KNEW" to be true about them. They instinctively knew I was sincere and that I did not expect them to be "bad boys"...phew, the pressure was off them to perform to the standards expected of them by others, and now they could begin to meet mine. This was not an overnight success, each day I met them with the expectation that they would be delightful and fully engaged students, and after a few months...I got exactly what I expected every time.

Expect the worst and you will get it eventually, expect the best...and yep...you'll get that too.

With Star Dust in my eyes

So maybe some of you who have been reading this blog might think that perhaps I walk around with a bit of star dust in my eyes and thinking all light and love thoughts with only a tenuous grip of the realities? Perhaps you might be forgiven for thinking that I have had it easy and therefore can sit here and type messages about being loving and forgiving because of the fact that I have never faced anything traumatic, majorly hurtful or spiteful or nothing as bad as others etc *smile*

I have to admit to similar feelings when reading self development books, and reading "stuff" other people have written. I too have sat in conferences and healing sessions thinking, "Yeah right! I chose to do this to myself, are you CRAZY?"

So I will make no apologies for my positivity and nor will I try and justify my position or my "qualifications" for writing these posts, because really, it's all about our own journey. This is a part of mine and I believe that I can be helpful in writing these posts.

I can't even tell you why this particular message has popped into my head today, no incident occurred, no one has said anything to me, I just sat down to type and here the message is...it often happens this way. Back to the point though..... (*Smile* got distracted)

I definitely make a choice to see the world through my special brand of rose coloured glasses, to perceive the good from every action, no matter how awful it seems at the time, and to believe that every transaction I am a part of is, or can be, a part of my journey and learning. Through doing this, and making this my "reality" I am able to calmly face situations which before now may have had me pulling my hair out. I am able to make clear and concise decisions based on my heart and my intuition without fear, and I am better able to understand and therefore get along with, others even when their actions stem from ego. So I ask, is it really a bad thing that I have star dust in my eyes? *laugh* I'm definitely erring on the side of "Nope!"

Our journey through life is most definitely impacted by the way we look at the world. If you expect to be hurt and to have tragedy in your life you will (I have inadvertently put this one to the test...don't go there!!!!!!) and if you expect that the world is a beautiful place despite the seeming harshness of it sometimes, well, then it will be.

Don your rose coloured glasses, sprinkle faery dust around, believe in magic and miracles and let that star dust twinkle from your eyes. The energy and love that lights up your eyes really comes from your heart.

Do you love yourself enough?

Most of the difficulties and challenges I have had in this life are due to the fact that, despite knowing what was best for me and having an intuitive sense of the path to take at crucial moments, I failed to trust myself and follow my intuition. In short, I didn't love myself enough to trust and listen to what i was subconsciously telling myself. I damaged myself mentally by repeating mistakes over and over and by holding grudges against myself for mistakes I had made. In doing this, I really put a bit of a halt on my progress along my life's path and had quite a few years there where not only was I not going forwards, but maybe was sliding a little backwards as well.

The first person we know is ourselves. The person we know the best is ourselves, and the person we should love with all our heart, soul and being is ourselves!

After all, if we know ourselves the best...and we don't like what we see, how could anyone else?

It has taken some time, some healing and a whole lot of positive affirmations to look in the mirror and like what I see, to look into my heart and KNOW that I am a beautiful, loving, forgiving, talented and creative person worthy of love, success (in whatever form I choose) and anything else I desire. Sometimes I slip back again into the habit of self denigrations, but generally...I'm a pretty cool chick *smile*.

None of this seemed easy to me at the time, but working on my own self image and belief is one of THE most important parts of my journey to success.

There are a lot of things, circumstances and people I could "blame" for my lack of self worth and lack of trust and belief in myself, but why bother? The point is, I needed to do something about it no matter what the cause and the first step was to remove excuses, causes or reasons and just focus my intentions on improving.

There are a whole lot of different ideas about how you can learn to love yourself more and find the absolute beauty, perfection and marvelousness (yes that is a word..even if I just made it up) that makes up you and who you are. So I'll share a couple that worked for me, but persist in finding things that work for you, put everything else on hold, because this is the most important step in the journey!

Positive affirmations are a good way to start because you don't even have to believe them for them to start working. (Have a look at my post on Influences for a really good example of how affirmations changed the attitude of a lot of people if you like). Make a list of all the things you would like to think about yourself, like, "I am awesome" "I love ME" "I am beautiful and talented" "I am worthy of love" etc Make up little signs with these sayings on them and put them around your room, or even better, ALL OVER the house (this will also benefit anyone else who reads them too...bonus). Make yourself read them every chance you get. When they start to fade out of your consciousness, move them to different places and bring them back to the forefront of your mind. Trust me, while it takes some time, this works!.

Look into the mirror each morning, make eye contact with the beautiful soul looking back at you, and tell them they are wonderful (if you're a bit self conscious, say it inside your head), pretend they are a friend of yours having a hard time dealing with their life and their choices at the moment, and tell them all the things you would tell that friend. Tell them they are always forgiven for making mistakes, that they are allowed to be human, and that they can move on with love.

Make a visit in imagination land back to the little you and have a conversation about all the things you really needed to hear when you were little, all the things you wish someone had said to you...go and tell yourself, and give that little you a hug.

Ask your divine team to help you see yourself as they see you.

These are some of the things that helped me to move from self loathing to "I am AWESOME" *smile* It is such an important choice to make, if you constantly walk around with the feeling that you are worth nothing and that there is no chance of success for you, well there won't be, the universe acts on the things we think about the most and invest the most energy in. Love yourself enough to want the best for you, then actively pursue romancing yourself *big grin*

You are loved and protected always beautiful soul.

In gratitude

Sometimes, especially when we are in the middle of moments that are less than pleasant, we can forget to say "thank you" for the things we love and appreciate. Living in gratitude for the gifts we are given is one of the quickest way I know to attract more of the same and also to live a life relatively free from stress and anxiety. After all, we are normally stressed or anxious about "what is not" rather than what is.

I love the concept of a Thanksgiving festival like they have in America, while we don't have a similar festival here in Australia, that does not impede us being grateful for what we do  have *smile*

Taking some time out to think about the things we are grateful for in our lives has many side affects for us (well it does for me anyway...grin). Firstly it focuses your mind and attention on those things I would like to see more of, it also allows me to see the abundance I already have in my life and thirdly, it allows me to briefly reflect on those things I would rather not deal with, or have any contact with in my life in order to see if I can make any positive changes.

Living your life in gratitude is a fantastic way to move through times that seem a little tough and difficult. When we are focused on the things that we love, it takes some of the emphasis away from the things we are worried or stressed about.

When I am confronted by a situation or person that I would rather not be involved in, I start to mentally list the things I am grateful for. For instance, when a colleague of mine talked about the academic abilities of one of her students in a less than positive way, I would even go as far as to say derogatory, my first instinct was to berate her for her judgement of this other person and take her to task for her attitude. This is a less than angelic action on my part and would have been highly hypocritical since I would have been pronouncing judgement as loudly as she. Instead, I kept some things running through my head like a bit of a chant; "I am grateful for my students, I am grateful that I can see my students as people and not as objects, I love the work I do, I am grateful I do not have to team teach (bit of ego there *wry smile*) I am grateful for my abilities" etc. I kept up the running commentary in my head until she had finished making her statements. Consequently, I missed most of what she was saying, and focused instead on the positives in my life. In this way, I was able to avoid taking on any of her baggage or getting involved in a dispute that would only have led to hurt and not a resolution. In short, there's nothing I can do to change her opinions and it's not really my place to try and make her change; what I could do though, is avoid the trap of entering into her perceptions and letting them affect me.

Constantly taking the time to remind yourself of the things you are grateful for really builds up a shield of resilience around you so that it is not necessary to enter into the perceptions of others and allow their baggage to become your own.

The Ultimate liberation

One of the things that held me back from following my life path and prevented me from easily attaining my goals was the concept that I had to "fight" to "struggle" to "suffer" in order to achieve anything. Even now, I think sometimes that something was too easy, that it fell into my lap and in some small way, perhaps I hadn't earned the right to such happiness and freedom!

This is really "old" thinking, and when viewed with logic, is utterly irrational when it comes right down to it.

We are connected to the divine through our very existence whether we choose to believe it or not. We are loved, protected and looked after constantly by a team of devoted divine beings who watch our back and guide our steps. These benevolent beings don't wish to inflict harm and suffering on us???? Why would they???? They are from the divine, a place of love and forgiveness so why would they even dream of hurting us and making us suffer???? Totally illogical isn't it?

Pain, suffering, struggle...these are all human concepts, I am afraid to say, we do this to ourselves.

The great thing about coming to this conclusion is that we can let it go. We can work to remind ourselves and each other constantly, that we are not required to suffer, struggle or have pain in order for us to grow as spiritual beings. It is not necessary to go through hardship in order to reach our goals. What we can do, when the world or others visit this upon us, is to take the love from the situation, forgive others for hurting us and choose not to accept the pain and suffering that others may choose for us (or attempt to anyway). We can choose the easier path and we can act from love and forgiveness and thus make our own journey smoother as well.

It is the ultimate liberation to our spirit to let go of the concept that pain and suffering are essential to growth. We are worthy of divine assistance, of a beautiful journey and a blessed life just by the mere fact of our existence. We can choose to take the learning and growth from any situation, but given the choice of the paths to tread, I choose to enjoy my life, to live in peaceful harmony with people around me (whether they choose this or not) and to continue on my life path in the knowledge that I am worthy.

Letting your divine team, your intuition and your trust guide you, even when you are a little unsure of the direction you may be headed in at a moment in time, is one of the most liberating and joyous feelings I have ever had.

The power of belief

This morning I had the MOST amazing experience and I just have to share it with you. It was the most wonderful moment of understanding and I was gifted to be allowed to join in the moment with some very special people.

This morning I went to my local library to participate in story-time. This is an initiative of the library to encourage visits to the library and participation in reading (of which I am a BIG fan *smile*). I dressed in my favourite mermaid dress with strips of green cloth and pearls in my hair, I had a big meditation with my team, then I took my book, and my colouring in pictures and off I went to the library.

The first question I asked the beautiful group of little angels (about 20 odd) from my local primary school was, "Who believes in magic? Put your hands really high in the air." They all did which was fantastic, but it wasn't the hands in the air that got me, it was the breathlessness, the excitement, the joy and the wonder...that's what set my heart to bursting with joy. I then spent an enjoyable hour reading my mermaid story to them, hearing all of their amazing ideas surrounding ocean conservation, magic and some really important stuff. Then, we coloured in mermaid pictures together and I left feeling uplifted, full of hope and I carried their joy with me.

I am a believer already, this is quite obvious I am sure, but when I spoke to these delightful beings, listened intently to their words and truly immersed myself in their level of belief, I understood that what I considered belief doesn't hold a candle to their level of knowing!

The energy in the room was palpable.

The lesson I learnt today is that when it is sometimes difficult to remember, to believe and to have faith, look to the light our children have. Their level of knowing is astute, amazing and completely soul cleansing. Remember when....it wasn't really that long ago; cast yourself back into your 6 year old self and remember what true knowing is/was then belief is not even a question.
