Oh so many diversions....

You know, I often picture myself, as I was sitting there with the Archangel Michael, and we were discussing this journey, and the contract I would sign...often I ask myself whether I REALLY read that contract or whether I was just happily wrapped up in the moment...*sigh*

One of the things I have often pondered along this journey, is why it is I so often get totally wrapped up in "stupid" stuff?????? I mean really, I KNOW and have remembered/learnt all this stuff, and yet, I am often caught up and buying into stuff that just doesn't matter in the scheme of things...you know?

Life, the human life we lead, is a distraction and diversion to keep us happy and laughing while the "real" work gets done. *smile* To me, the real work is the business of beautifully shining my light on the world as I walk through it; to be the best human me I can be; to love unconditionally and forgive instantly...everything else...a pleasant diversion! well...that's what the contract said I'm sure *wry grin*

Sometimes I just have to laugh at my very humanness as I get caught up in what someone said about me, or a perceived insult/slight, or any other day to day thing, which in the long run means nothing to me.

Other times, when the moment has been far more terrible than someone being catty to me, I have had to remind myself to believe and keep knowing that this moment will pass and it too is just a diversion.

Using this thought pattern helps me to get through some of those more...shall we say..."challenging" moments.

We are powerful co-creators in the life we lead...I mean sure, we signed a contract, but that will never be more than we can handle, we knew it when we signed it...but if the diversion which is currently my life is not fun and pleasant, then I get to change those details, I'm telling myself to change something, move on, be different! OK then, message heard self *smile*

Horrible moments

Sometimes I have days where I seem to be overtaken by unbearable heart hurt, loss, grief, loneliness and all sorts of heart wrenching emotions. Sometimes there seems to be a cause, other times, not. Sometimes I think I am the only person in the world....*ego much? wry grin*

On these days I find myself judging others...generally the heart hurt comes from observing the actions of others (or experiencing them myself) and I find a bit of a rage building at the way humans CHOOSE to treat each other. I am then a little disappointed and saddened at my own choice...that of judgement.

Coping with one of these days is interesting.

Most of the time I make the conscious choice to go "switch off". This is not a "sticking your head in the sand" kind of moment, it's more like a, "I choose to reserve all response until the energy changes" kind of response.

I keep myself busy doing loving and worthwhile things (in my perception of course) and each time my brain tries to inject negativity, anger, judgement or anything else, I stop, take a deep breath and clear my head.

I mow the lawn (and the neighbours lawn too) I create culinary delights, I read, I draw, I clean the house...basically I focus all of my energy and channel my intent into doing something, it doesn't really matter what.

For really "bad" days I prefer to focus on physical activities (ones that don't actually involve sport...not the sporting type *smile*) , especially in the garden. I feel better when I exercise out the feelings rather than sitting with them and dwelling on them. There is ZERO point in meditating quietly on these days (not for me anyway) so I get into the garden and weed and mow and water and plant and talk to the veggies depositing all of the negativity and "stuff" at their roots, asking them to change it into love energy before releasing it again. (A VERY helpful visual for me).

Dwelling on how "bad" you feel only makes it worse!

While keeping busy doing "stuff" may not change the reason you feel heart hurt, it does help you to focus your attention on something else. The laws of the universe state that what you focus the most on, is what you get more of...so I choose to distract myself from negative thoughts.

Anything is possible

"It would be lovely to just live the life I want without a thought in the world for everything else wouldn't it? But THIS is my reality, like it or not, these are the cards I was dealt and the hand I need to play."

This statement was made to me just recently...my heart sank, my throat grew tight and I managed to mumble some appropriate reply before I walked away.

Another person who has decided to "settle" for what they think they were given.

The truth is, whether you wish to believe it or not, we have a choice in how we live our lives AND we were given the power to change it.

The only dictate, the only "thing" we were dealt, is the power and ability to choose. The only instructions we were given is to live happy and joyful lives, and in so doing, bring the light and love of our joy to others.

I don't really know how to go about changing the mind of someone who chooses to believe there is nothing else for them, and I don't think it is even my right to try. Change is a personal thing, something that happens only from within.

I know, and believe that we have the power to change the way our life is currently and create the future we desire...for me...this is EVERYTHING.

What's wonderful about the universe

Do you know what the MOST amazing thing is about the law of attraction and the universe and the way all we think can come true?

Well, it is simply that the universe, the divine, does not distinguish between things that have ACTUALLY happened, things we REMEMBER, or things we DREAM. True fact *smile* What happens is that the divine picks up strong emotive responses and the things we thing the most about...and then delivers us some more of that!

You know what this means right? The stronger you think about something, the more focused you are on that something and the more love and emotion you pour into the thoughts....the faster the universe will respond. It doesn't matter if it is something we have COMPLETELY DREAMT UP! Just pour all of your love energy and focus, train your thoughts on what you will have be true, rather than what you don't want...it's yours!

Cool huh? *laugh*

As an artist, my imagination is really fine tuned and practised at "conjuring". If that's not you, if you don't think your imagination is up to the task (which I don't believe about you, however it's what YOU believe that matters) then there are a heap of different ways to help your imagination grow and flourish.

You can put pictures of beautiful things around for you to view, you can get some finger paints and just have a great time with colour (who cares what it looks like?), you can lie on your back in the grass and find pictures in the clouds, pretend you come from another country and speak in an accent for the day (this is FUN), so many different things.

Grow your imagination, and watch your dreams and your life grow to match

If you need an example...

If you need an example of a completely uninhibited being who is very close to their divine origin, who acts from a place of love and non-judgement and who loves and enjoys life 90% of the time, then I have the perfect being for you to observe....

Look to our children!

I am constantly left in a state of wonder at the "amazingness" which is our youth. My own children (of course *grin*) and also the students I teach and the children I randomly come into contact with down the street and just walking through our daily lives.

Children do not arrive on this earth with judgement, fear, anxiety or any of those other emotions...they are taught how to see those things. They are the PERFECT example of how to be close to our divine selves.

They are intuitive, imaginative, fun loving, free and creative. They laugh, sing and play for the majority of their lives. They are fantastic at entertaining themselves even if they have "nothing" with which to do that (evidenced by the ability to make a game up with the stones in the garden, or the paper off a present). They are rarely concerned with how "embarrassing" something is, they know what they want and just go out to get it, they don't understand the concept of "impossible" either...how many little ones KNOW they can fly if they can only climb high enough? *laugh*

It is not too late for us either! So what if somewhere along the way someone or something taught us to feel fear, embarrassment, anxiety and judgement? We can just as easily abandon those feelings too.

If you want to feel a moment of pure bliss and remember what it was like to be so close to the divine within us that you can touch it....play, laugh and sing, dance, jump, run and imagine as though you are still a child.

Exponential curve of learning

Today was an amazing day...all days are amazing actually, but this one surpassed amazing into...ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! So, let me tell you why...

I am currently on "holidays" in a major city. For me (and I know travel does this to a lot of people) it actually means I am exposed to a lot of other people's energy, away from my home base and safe place, have the 'travel stress', feel some obligation to visit people or not, to be somewhere or not, to fit everything in to......blah...well, you know....I actually feel it is more of a holiday to stay at home most of the time, especially when I am travelling with a four year old.

Today, I woke the teenage light worker before 12 midday, I will wait for your gasp of surprise and shock *laugh* and managed to actually have him and the four year old, dressed, ready, fed and in the car by 9.30am (I know right...I am a worker of miracles) Then we headed off to visit an amazing, beautiful light worker friend of mine who also happens to write spectacular children's stories and colouring books. Being good Friday, we actually got stopped in traffic for quite some way. I was taking BIG deep, cleansing breaths *laugh* They weren't big enough. The gremlins were attacking from all sides, my blood pressure rose as I felt the travel stress of the people in cars around me as the impatiently pushed, and cursed. I felt the teenagers anger at being awake so early and his impatience and frustration at being in the car. The four year old started to act aggressively and be argumentative and meanwhile, I am breathing deeply, calming myself, sending out love energy...slowly, but surely my blood pressure rose higher and higher.

I sent out a thought, "Chamuel, please help us all to get where we are going safely, with patience and guidance, Michael help me cut these cords, Raphael help me stay calm, centred and free from stress, and for God's sake Gabrielle, help me with the four year old." I focused on breathing for a bit longer. The teenager went to sleep...phew...one down...the four year old started counting...phew, that made two....people started to feel more patient in the surrounding cars and there was less horn honking, illegal overtaking and cursing...phew...getting there. I then told the four year old to remove his gremlins. we discussed and new "Imagineering" technique we had learnt from my beautiful light worker friend, the "gremlinator" or "Gremlin transmuter" basically it works when you feed all those negative gremlin feelings into it and they transform into love energy to be released. My body sucked those gremlins in, helped them to change and then "spat" them back out again as love, the four year old did the same thing. We worked hard and just kept it up the whole way through the traffic. We said thank you for the traffic jam that allowed us the time we needed to finish the job before we got to my friend's house...YAY!

We then spent an indulgent, luxurious amazing time wandering around the garden of these beautiful people, talking, eating their home grown, love filled food and swapping energy, stories, learning and continuing to transmute those gremlins into love...yahooo!!!!!

These events, while awesome, were not the highlight...yes! There's more!

In the car on the way home I had the most engaging, awesome and fantastic conversation with my light worker teenager as he begins to consciously practise arts he has always done but not been aware of. We shared learning, understandings and wonderful energy as he joined the team! I tried not to jump up and down and do a magic faery dance, after all, I was driving *laugh* but I was so excited to watch his growth and experience the learning we both have enjoyed over the past few days.

Pictures

I am a visual type person, I am far more comfortable in learning through seeing, I use pictorial messages and I understand information far better and far more quickly when there are pictures involved. Because of this, I can "trick" my brain into listening to my heart when necessary. It is such a cool tool to use, I thought I might share a bit about it.

This tool is especially useful I find, when I am re-training my brain to follow a pathway I wish to be on rather than wandering around with no idea *smile* For example, when I wanted to break down some of my barriers so that I wasn't quite so defensive and abrupt with people, and that my first response was to think people were "out to get me" or going to cause me pain (in other words, to ditch the victim mentality) I drew a picture of me breaking through a barrier with the mightiest of stunning "karate chops" *laugh* on the barrier I had written words like "fear, mistrust, defensiveness, anger, abruptness" and others like it. A symbolic representation of me defeating the barriers I had placed in my own way. I looked at the picture (and kept the image in my mind) every time I was walking into a situation that made me nervous or fearful. The message sunk in and I removed those barriers.

I also use "pictures" when I am meditating, clearing or healing. For example, when I lay down to sleep a couple of nights ago, my brain tried to recall all the embarrassing moments and all the "what if" scenarios from the last week or so. I sighed impatiently at my brain for trying this old trick, the envisaged a crystal structure surrounding me (a bit like the glass case Snow White was sealed in by the dwarfs after being poisoned by the witch) and 'heard' the sound of something hissing in to fill up the case. The substance coming in was healing and cleansing energy which I gratefully let permeate my body down to the cellular level. Within minutes I fell blissfully off to sleep.

I use pictures to affirm the situations I want for my life and to reinforce my goals and focus my intentions. I have a folder with images I have cut out of magazines, printed off the Internet and drawn myself that show places I wish to visit, things I wish to have, stories I'd like to write, meals I would like to create and other things like that. When I am feeling a little uncertain or feel my decisiveness wavering, out comes the "visualisation folder" and I regain my focus or change the pictures to more closely match my changing view.

I also use images for healing and cleansing and rejuvenating myself. Green is a really healing colour for me, so when I feel a little low I go outside and sit among the green of my garden. If this is not possible though, I wear green clothes, or I have a picture of a lush, green rainforest's on the wall, or I paint a green picture or the like.

All of these strategies feed into the concept that images have a great ability to influence our brain...so why not use them purposefully to create an outcome that works for you? We, as human beings, are far more likely to respond to pictures than to words no matter how well they're written or spoken. It does, however, work both ways. If I watch violent films, expose my brain to images that are saddening and horrifying, then I become uncomfortable, anxious and at times self-conscious and doubting. I am therefore careful about the visual stimulus I feed my brain.

Surround yourself with images of love, colour, light and beauty and inevitably, this is all you will be able to see.

If I could be...

When you were little, I am sure someone asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up? I am also sure you had a response of some kind…Superman, Queen of the Faeries (or was this just me??), a Princess, an Astronaut, a Lawyer, a Doctor, a Teacher…the world was yours, there were no limits, no practicalities like how you were going to afford to pay for your university degree or how you might find the faeries and marry the prince so you could be queen someday. When you were little, you just knew that’s what you would do, no questions asked, no boundaries or limitations…it just was!

What happened? When did you decide that there were limits to what you could do and be? At what point did the “world” at large teach you that you were silly to think you could be any of these things, that you were not worthy of your dreams perhaps, or that your dreams simply were not possible? When were you “forced” to see that you had been living in a fantasy and it was time to wake up and grow up?

I’d like you to play a game with me now…come on, games are fun and big people can play too… I want you to come to work with me at Imagineering Inc. (it’s a little bit like visiting the Wonka factory *smile*). As an employee at Imagineering Inc. there is a code of conduct, like all other work places; certain expectations of all employees that must be strictly adhered to!

1.       At Imagineering Inc. there are no limits and the word “impossible” is banned from use by all employees.

2.       All employees are asked to forgo the ‘unhealthy’ practice of thinking of all the reasons why a dream CANNOT work, and are asked to apply themselves to the healthy and productive task of finding the reasons why a dream WILL work.

3.       All Imagineering Inc. employees must spend time dreaming BIG dreams of their future, not tiny little “I want a bright new toothbrush” kind of dreams (although new toothbrushes ARE awesome), but great big, “I want to create a world community of people who care” kind of dreams.

4.       All employees are expected to put their dreams into writing and pin them to the wall.

5.       Finally, employees of Imagineering Inc. are asked to detect the dream stealers aongst us, and blow BIG raspberries at them, scientifically proven to dismiss dream stealers and send them back to their own offices at Igiveup Inc.

Working at Imagineering Inc. has proven highly beneficial in realising some of my more “impossible” dreams. I adhere to the code of conduct at all times when decision making about my future path and career…how about you?

Come and join part of the team here at Imagineering Inc. you’re perfect for the job, no prior experience necessary.

Story Telling...

Story telling has been an important part of many cultures for Milena. It is a method used to pass on important information, traditions and cultural ideas. Story telling is a way for our young ones to learn and for our elders to pass on their knowledge.

Each day, we write a chapter in our own story as well as influencing the other "characters" we come into contact with.

I choose story telling, through this post and through the books that I write, as a way to pass on my own knowledge and understandings because of the receptiveness that we all have to a well told story (or even a not well told story *smile*). By doing this, I hope to positively influence others in the telling of their own stories, and writing their own stories.

In imagination land (a great place to visit often I find) I often see myself writing my life as a story. I think about the scene, the characters and the plot and consciously choose how the story will go. Now it doesn't always work out the way I have "written" because I am not the only author, but this form of manifesting my reality has some real positives.

When I was a child, I used to have repeated nightmares over and over again. I can still remember the nature and content of those nightmares. When telling the adults in my life, the only support they could offer was to remind me that nightmares were not real. "I know this!" I thought to myself, "but that doesn't stop the absolute terror that overwhelms me every night." When these nightmares started, I was only about 5 or 6 years old, and until this point had relied solely on adults for the "how to" of dealing with life..this is the first time I had to take control of my learning myself and find a solution to stopping the nightmares and making sure I could sleep without fear. Big job for a little girl! This is how the story telling began. It was the early 80's, so video games and movies were all the rage. As I lay down to sleep, I constructed a video store in my imagination. I would walk along the shelves looking at the selection available to me. I would make myself walk through the horror section, and tell myself that they were just movies and I could choose not to see them. I would then walk to the family section of the store, choose a happy, joyful family film to "watch", then imagine myself returning to my head. Inside my head was a video player that would directly link to my brain, my eyes and most importantly the part of my brain that controlled my imagination and my dreams. I would then insert the video, check that all the equipment was running properly and press play.

By the time I had finished this visualisation I was usually asleep or close to it. The only time I had nightmares after this, was because I had forgotten to play the right tape.

Had I asked someone in the know or been able to verbalise what it is I was doing, they might have been able to tell me that i was manifesting a reality, and retraining my brain to reject the horror and embrace the positive.

I still use the story telling message idea to retrain my brain, although now it is a far more conscious process.

What are the stories your brain leads you to believe? If a 5 year old girl can reorganise her thinking and train her brain to not engage in horror, trauma or anything negative...then we as adults most certainly can consciously employ this method.

Tell the stories of your life that are amazing, write the plot yourself, include characters that are friendly, supportive and loving for your plot. Create first in your mind and watch as the story becomes real!!!

Back to the beginning

When I first started writing this blog, it was about being an author, writing children's books and about the process I had been through to publish my first story  in the Angel Wings, Faery Dust and Other Magical Things series called A Story About Witches, Warlocks and Such. WOW! That seems like an eternity ago now *smile* These posts are about the process I have been through in order to write these stories, because, without all these learning's, mistakes, spiritual discoveries and journeys, the stories would not have been written at all.

So today, I make a short visit back to the beginning, because my second story in the series, A Story About Merpeople, has just been released. YAY!

One of the influences in writing these books was attending Angel intuitive "boot camp" with Doreen Virtue. A part of that seminar was a discussion on the Realms of Origin, sort of like personality typing, although it is a bit more involved than that; this is the reason Doreen's Book is acknowledged as a source in the back of the first few stories (oh yes...there's more to come, the third one is in production now...woohooo.)

A Story About Merpeople describes the Merpeople Realm. people belonging to this realm tend to have a passion for the sea, the beach and environs, are passionate about conservation, and tend to suffer dried skin and other skin conditions when they live a long distance from the sea. There is a lot more information than this; I'm just giving a really brief overview here.

The reason I write these particular stories is complex too. Our current world seems to move further and further away from make believe, fantasy, magic, miracles and faith. Our children aren't taught the power of their imaginations or reminded of magic very often. People tend to shy away from angels and other magical things for fear of offending someone, or of thinking that fostering this kind of belief in our children doesn't prepare them for the real world. I completely and totally disagree with this idea. The power to imagine, is the ability to create a future for ourselves that is harmonious and peaceful; to manifest into reality the situations, things and people you desire to have in your life, begins with the act of imagining.

An active and frequently used imagination is the reason I can write these stories and why I have no trouble listening to my divine team...imagination is the willingness to believe in something we cannot already see!

So, do the world a favour...encourage our kids to use their imagination, to build upon the skill of imagining until it becomes manifesting...after all, they are in charge of our future too.

The power of belief

This morning I had the MOST amazing experience and I just have to share it with you. It was the most wonderful moment of understanding and I was gifted to be allowed to join in the moment with some very special people.

This morning I went to my local library to participate in story-time. This is an initiative of the library to encourage visits to the library and participation in reading (of which I am a BIG fan *smile*). I dressed in my favourite mermaid dress with strips of green cloth and pearls in my hair, I had a big meditation with my team, then I took my book, and my colouring in pictures and off I went to the library.

The first question I asked the beautiful group of little angels (about 20 odd) from my local primary school was, "Who believes in magic? Put your hands really high in the air." They all did which was fantastic, but it wasn't the hands in the air that got me, it was the breathlessness, the excitement, the joy and the wonder...that's what set my heart to bursting with joy. I then spent an enjoyable hour reading my mermaid story to them, hearing all of their amazing ideas surrounding ocean conservation, magic and some really important stuff. Then, we coloured in mermaid pictures together and I left feeling uplifted, full of hope and I carried their joy with me.

I am a believer already, this is quite obvious I am sure, but when I spoke to these delightful beings, listened intently to their words and truly immersed myself in their level of belief, I understood that what I considered belief doesn't hold a candle to their level of knowing!

The energy in the room was palpable.

The lesson I learnt today is that when it is sometimes difficult to remember, to believe and to have faith, look to the light our children have. Their level of knowing is astute, amazing and completely soul cleansing. Remember when....it wasn't really that long ago; cast yourself back into your 6 year old self and remember what true knowing is/was then belief is not even a question.

Where to now?

Maybe you have made the choice to live a life from love and forgiveness and to remove yourself from actions of ego; and maybe you have written a mission statement of the person you are in your divine self (there is an earlier post on this if you would like to know more); but I can almost feel the question forming, "Where to now? What do I do nexzt?"

Only you can actually answer that question with any acuracy. I am sure if you take a moment to listen to the sounds of your heart, you will actually know yourself.

Where I went after making such a life changing decision?...Well, I chose to start dreaming dreams. I dreamt of the life I chose to lead, of the successes I wished to have, of the people I wanted in my life, of the adventures I could foresee. I spent, and still spend, a lot of my time focused on "dreaming" the picture I wish to have.

This is not wasting time or spending undue time in dreaming the future so that I actually miss the present time; this is a conscious manifestation of my future. I have a folder and a wall chart that has pictures, words and symbols representing this future and the path I take to get there. It is constantly changing with the needs of my heart and the people around me; but it is constantly in my view. I spend time focusing my intentions, drawing on the opinions of my divine team, and consciously choosing actions that take me closer to that "dream".

We are limitless within our imagination. When we enter the land of dreams and imagination we can be or choose anything. These are the moments in time when we are closest to our divine selves and our divine team.

You will notice of course, that with all of this dreaming and imagining, that not once did I mention that I was focusing on things I don't want to have in my life, or on things I wish to "get rid" of? That's because giving these things any attention at all is giving it or them more of my energy than is warranted. I spend ALL of my precious dreaming and manifesting time on the things I desire most and that I want more of in my life.

Dream, and dream and just keep dreaming and acting towards your dreams until the dream becomes a reality.

What happens when your skill level doesn't match your dream?

Interesting question huh? I have a perfect analogy for this one (well, I think it's perfect anyway *smile*) Recently I have decided to give quilting a try. This is a specialised skill that takes a lot of time and patience to learn. Unfortunately (or not) I have neither time, nor a lot of patience, nor do I have available to me a suitable teacher. This hasn't stopped me though. In my imagination I create the most exquisite designs and beautiful patterns. I even sometimes take the time to draw these patterns out first and complete a design sketch. Then I go ahead and order the fabric (no measuring done at this point) and hope for the best. Then, I get out the sewing machine and start! You know of course what happens right?

As I progress, I usually find that my skill level seems insufficient to do the job that I have undertaken. I grow impatient with my own lack of ability, there may possibly be artist tantrums (although I am not admitting to this mind you) and a whole heap of frustration. The picture of what I want to create is SO clear. I have the picture firmly in front of me at all times, my intentions are focused and then....my skill level seems to let me down; or does it?

What normally occurs is that I get to a certain point and am unable to move forward because my skill level is not sufficient for the task. After taking a moment or two to be human (a.k.a. have a hissy fit) I then look at the situation and start trying "stuff". My basic method of problem solving is trial and error. I stop, listen to my gut instinct which provides me with an idea, then, I act on the impulse. This does not mean I am always successful first go around; but one thing that does happen is that from the attempts I learn a little bit more each time. I make a mistake, stop again, listen again, and move again.

This is what successful people do in all aspects of their lives! We are born with all we need to be successful and that is the imagination, intuition and ability to problem solve. We LEARN or are taught to give up when it gets tough, to use a lack of skill, experience or confidence as an excuse not to try something and to put things that challenges us greatly into the "too hard" basket. My secret is that I don't ask anyone if something can be done, I just go ahead and do it! I may make mistakes, I may take a while to get where I'm going, I may divert myself along the way...but I never get told something is impossible, and I never stop when my skill level doesn't match the picture in my head (nor do I change the picture to match the skills I have) I stop, listen, learn, move forward!

Enthusiasm

The third of the most powerful trio of tools we possess (imagination and creativity being the first two...these are outlined in the two posts previous to this one) is enthusiasm.

I am sure you have noticed that when asked to do something you are enthused about, the task takes on an aspect of excitement. You feel bubbles of energy and the task feels no bother at all to complete. You go about the task without complaint and even take on extra work involving the task without being asked. You may put a lot more time and energy into completing something you are enthusiastic about and feel joy at being able to do it. These are the feelings I get when I am enthusiastic about doing something and I know I cannot be alone in these feelings.

As you started reading the above paragraph, I am sure that your mind reached back into memory to produce an experience where this statement was true for you or the experience rand true for you. I am also sure, that the reverse was true too. your mind also produced a basis for comparison; this being a task you were most definitely NOT enthusiastic about. I bet your mind remembered the time seeming to drag, every part of the task seemingly onerous and the deadlines looming without the feeling of satisfaction and completion, rather a mad sense of panic that you wouldn't be finished on time and the consequences for this??? Am I right???

All of this is just a way our brain reacts to words...imagine then, if you "tricked" your brain when the time came to complete tasks you are less than enthusiastic about? My goal (and I am not saying I always achieve it) is to approach EVERY task I have to complete with copious amounts of enthusiasm! Sometimes I admit, I am faking it at first. I plaster that smile on and encourage my body to remember what it does when I am genuinely enthusiastic about something. I ask my body to copy that feeling and fake it *smile* Does this seem dishonest? I am sure you can anticipate what happens? It doesn't take long for my brain to catch on to what my body is doing and very soon I am genuinely enthusiastic about the task.

The result of tricking my brain like this and engaging in sneaky body and mind altering behaviour? Well everything is fun!!!! Even washing and hanging laundry can be fun! It's true, I am the proof :0)

When you start to approach all of life with the immense amount of enthusiasm you approach delightful tasks...well, soon everything is delightful!

Creativity

Creativity is just another form of imagination really. I think it might even be the first step to tapping into your imagination potential.

Everyone possesses creativity the same way they posses imagination. People often say to me, "Oh, you're so creative," in a tone of voice that suggests that this is something rare and precious. Precious I agree with, rare?...I don't think so.

An analogy would be math ability and my partner. He's a builder by trade, and he left school before year 12. This seems to have created the illusion for him that he is, "no good at math." To dispel this myth once and for all, I asked him to estimate the amount of concrete needed in a certain space. Without batting an eyelid, he told me within about a minute. Then I asked him to tell me whether a certain piece of furniture would fit in a particular space, and how many lineal metres of timber would be required for a project and so on. he was able to tell me all of those answers off the top of his head. Sure I could do the same math (I am a math teacher after all *smile*) and sure I would get the same answer, difference being it would take me a few pages of working out. The point of this analogy? Just because the math my partner did every day seemed to be just "stuff he knew" and wasn't part of some organised system, he had the perception he was not good at it!

The same could be said about creativity. Just because you may not paint or draw or other things considered to be creative, does not mean you are not creative.

Think about it for a minute; whenever you decide what to make for dinner you are placing different things together to make something new...creat-ive. When you choose what to wear...creat-ive. When you organise your furniture in a space...creat-ive. Anytime you make something new whether it be a space, an object or anything really, you are being creative.

Being creative is exhilarating and satisfying (especially when it works the way you thought it would) and is the first step in tapping into your imagination. Then where there are supposedly limits...there no longer is!

Imagination Power

Close your eyes for a minute and remember what it was like to be a child, playing in your backyard with siblings or friends. There was always something to do, and worlds sprang up out of the azaleas and marigolds (well in my case anyway) because you wished it to be so.

We encourage the use of imagination in our children and foster them using creative ways to solve problems or to view situations, and yet...it seems that somewhere along the way, we are meant to stop using this ability!!!!!

My mother way buying a gift for my son, a picture to go on his wall. She wanted to buy one with dragons on it for him, however, the salesman was attempting to convince her to buy a landscape or something a little less "fantastical". He said, "The baby will grow out of dragons, but a landscape will always suit." My mother, in her best no nonsense, dry tone of voice replied, "His mother never did." She bought the dragons. As my mother related this story to me later, I revelled in the compliment, even though she did not intentionally give me one *smile*

Our imagination is the single MOST powerful tool we have!

It is a shame that once we hit a certain age (not even sure what that is) our imagination becomes a source of embarrassment and we might be told to "grow up" when we exhibit blatant imaginative tendencies.

There is something I can guarantee you though, Sir Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Mary Kay...these people have imagination and wield it well!

I have also heard a statement (not that I believe it mind) that you can't go where you haven't seen. This is NO problem for someone with an imagination, because even if they haven't seen, they can imagine. Empathy is easier when you can picture yourself in someone else's shoes, so is forgiveness and compassion. Talking to faeries and angels becomes a lot easier too.

I easily visualise where I am going and the steps I am taking because I constantly exercise my imagination through reading and creative pursuits (drawing, cooking, making up games to play with the kids, planning the perfect evening with my partner, buying gifts etc).

Like any other skill, the more you use it, the stronger that faculty becomes...and...whole new worlds will open up for you to explore and enjoy!!

Have fun imagining
