Persistance

One of the key factors I recognised on my unplanned "sabbatical" has been the power in persistence.

Not one of the people seen as achieving all of their worldly goals and reaching for the starts has got there on the first go...really. If there has been someone, I am completely unaware of them *smile*

Putting my intentions forward, safeguarding my dreams, making plans and taking steps is WONDERFUL,  but it all comes to nought if I am willing to give it all up at the first sign of difficulty.

As an early example in my life; I became pregnant with my first son at the age of 19, unwed, having only just begun my university studies, in an extremely devout catholic family...not a great place to find myself *wry grin* I was told I had, "ruined my life" by multiple people (not all my family members, I thought I should clarify) and that there was no use in planning for a future......

Hmmmm..... nope, that option is not for me thanks.

So, things were a LOT different from the plan I had formed and the dreams I envisaged for myself. Things that were easy became a little harder at times, but I simply would NOT relinquish my goal.

Sure, I made some adjustments, took a slightly different road, had some different choices and forks in the road than I may have had if things were different...but this did not change my end goal...and so, I persevered. No matter how hard, no matter how tired, no matter how broke, or how disaffected I felt, I just kept putting one foot in front of the other until I got there six long years later...and ooohhhh, the satisfaction!

With perseverance, I had two amazing things instead of the originally planned one; I had my degrees for the career I am passionate about...but more importantly, I had with me a gorgeous, beautiful, amazing child!!! Wooohoooo, two for the price of one *laugh*

Bottom line is, if the goal you set in your purpose, if it is what you truly want with your whole heart...then persevere, because if you are willing to give up when the going gets a little rough, well then, perhaps the goal was not what you really, really desire??? If it is, then keep taking those steps, don't give up, because the next step may be the one that leads you to the end zone.

There's power in a dream

I am constantly getting messages from my divine team (as are we all) through little impulses and urges, through snatches of conversation, through images, pictures, songs, books and all manner of things. Something occurring once may be a coincidence...when a sign, image, phrase, theme is repeated over and over again in our daily lives, and speaks to us with love and positivity...it's no coincidence...it is a sign from the team.

One of the most powerful ways that I am inspired, receive messages and generally can be shown the many possibilities are through dreams.

I give myself time to daydream, to let my imagination run wild and free, to imagine, to dream, to wonder....

Through these dreams, I encounter many a solution, sometimes for difficulties I did not even know would arise. For this reason, I write down what I see and hear through these dreams. After all, I never know when the information I have seen will be of use to me on my path.

Through dreams I have the ability to observe my thoughts and processes, and in not seeking to control where they take me, I am led to the most amazing things.

Through our dreams we magically connect to the divine.

The danger of overthinking

All the time I talk about following your heart and your impulses and telling your brain to  "take a hike" when it tries to interfere with negativity and fear. What I don't think I have ever talked about, is why I think this is important and helpful.

The immediate impact is really obvious I think *hehehe*. Any source that inputs negativity and fear based energy through thoughts or any other means, can't help but hold you back. Eliminating any source of negativity from the diet that nourishes your soul will have an immediately positive influence.

The long term effects are astounding. Initially, when I first relearned the concept of trusting the positive inner voice we all have access to, I would "sit down and think" about the messages I heard, the outcomes I had felt and the impacts in general. This of course doesn't seem like it is something that may be inhibiting, however, the tendency to "think everything to death" was actually causing inaction all in itself. You see, I would spend so much time pondering the message and the wonder of hearing it, that I would either forget to take action on it, or I would let the opportunity pass simply because I had spent too much time and energy thinking about it.

Over thinking, the tendency to mull over all of the details, to  feel through all of the scenarios and to try and fathom the next steps can have the same impact as having not heard the message at all.

I am of course not saying that it is harmful to look at all the options and take a moment or two to ponder before leaping in....not at all. It is through this process that sometimes further information or messages will/can be delivered to us through that inner voice and intuition.

What I am talking about, is spending so much time thinking about why and how and when, that we somehow forget to "do".

Protect yourself as the butterfly emerges

Several times today I have heard the message, from several different people that you cannot place your complete trust in anyone other than yourself because eventually, people will let you down.....

Oh I cannot tell you how my heart hurts to hear this information passed on.

I cannot say that it is even possible for me to ascribe to this message, however, it did bring to mind an important lesson for me today about protecting myself.

I have found that the further I walk along my chosen path and the more I develop into the true me, with understanding of my divine connection, the more sensitive I seem to be. I am food sensitive (vegetarian only for me now) I am often sound and smell sensitive and I am most definitely sensitive in exposure to nastiness and displays of hurtful behaviour whether towards myself, towards others or just in a movie or TV programme.

Rather than diminishing my capacity to function in the world (the sensitivity that is) this has led me to be more careful about setting boundaries and protecting myself from harm, either emotional or physical.

There are people who attempt to tell me that I live in a fantasy world, that I am not who I claim to be and who attempt to "dream steal" in other ways like telling me not to pursue something, "for my own good" and to "give me a dose of reality." These are not bad people, in fact, some of them are people I love very much, and I do not judge or condemn them for this view of the world.

What I do though, is choose very carefully, the people who are allowed in to "hear" and "see" the real me who is emerging, especially when I feel a little vulnerable and fragile. I place FULL trust in myself, in my divine team and in a few humans I know *smile* who are very special to me. Other people still get the real me, I walk my walk and am authentic in all ways, however, they are not made privy to my thoughts, to my aspirations and to my growth.

As I grow, I choose the people who get to see that growth and walk beside me.

It is not a matter of judgement, it IS a matter of protecting myself. To love without allowing others to abuse me, to give without being taken advantage of, to trust, but not be naive.

I draw on my instinct and my divine connection to help me know the difference here.

Impossibilities and blocks

I was really surprised one day recently when someone said to me, "How do you do everything you do and do it well? I mean, where do you find the time?" I was surprised because I didn't really understand the question.

When I thought about it later, I think I understood what they were trying to get at. It seems, I suppose, that at times I work miracles because people don't always see the work that goes into something. I guess as well, that because I seem to do a "lot" of things all at once (author, illustrator, mother, full time teacher, faery lady at the markets...all of that) that I wouldn't have time for myself or time off etc. I am just guessing here, but I think that was the reason for the questions this person was asking me.

My answer? Well, either I don't listen to, or no one told me that, doing all of these things at once was/is impossible.

I decided to do these things, and just set about making them happen because I was unaware, that to most people, this seemed like an impossible task.

All of the limitations and boundaries that people have (myself included) come from a belief that something is not possible. They are human constructs, brain and ego acting in concert to keep us in our comfort zone because it's "safe" there.

The truth is, that once you have set your intentions on a goal, a particular destination or a set of circumstances, the entire universe will align in order to help you reach it. No blockages, no boundaries...nothing is impossible...unless of course you believe it is.

I can do what I do because I don't think about the fact that most people think it is impossible!

The energy of the universe

In order to tap into the universal source of energy, it's really important (I think) to understand what it is and how it works.

Understand, that this is PURELY my opinion, others may have amazingly unique and varied opinions on what they think this is about, and I am more than happy to hear them...any and all information adds to the total sum, so bring it on if you have something to add. *big smile*

My theory is this, the universe operates completely on one thing...one type of energy...LOVE!

Yep.....LOVE.

So, in order to maximise your impact, to most effectively use universal energy to manifest the reality and life you desire, all you have to do is LOVE!

The only thing that can fix heart break is love.
The only thing that can soothe the wounded soul is love.
The thing that attracts positive experiences is love.
The thing that gives us joy and makes the world shine in bright colours is love.
The thing that is contagious, infectious and easily passed on and shared is love.
Creativity comes from love.
Forgiveness comes from love.

I think of it this way...my body, my heart, my soul are all perfect conductors for this energy. Love can pass into me and revitalise me, and it can flow out of me to heal, comfort and protect. Love can fill me up continuously and is REALLY easy to obtain (through gratitude, hugging, smiling, sharing, laughing, singing, playing, imagining  drawing, reading, seeing, sitting, running, skipping, to name a few). Love recharges my batteries and helps me in the work I do. Love creates a dynamic field of positivity that projects out from me wherever I go making the journey smoother and the impact I have on others magical. I don't have to think about love, I don't have to be without love, I will never run out of love nor can anyone take it away from me. It is plentiful, wonderful and powerful.

Sit for a minute, close your eyes and mentally open the doors to your heart. Feel the love pouring in, surrounding you, permeating every part of your being. Let that love shine out of your eyes and surround you in a magical and colourful swirling vortex. Give it away freely to all of those around you...no one has to be "deserving" of love, just give it away with all of you and feel it bounce back, recycle around and fill you back up. Love is exponential, it doesn't just come back in the same quantity you gave it out, love expands and multiplies and virtually explodes through the world once you let it loose.

When people ask me what my secret is when it comes to managing "difficult" students, I tell them, "I love them, unconditionally, in the way their Mummies do." Love is THAT powerful in bringing about change.

The only thing that is real, and has the power to create powerful change, is love.

If nothing changes

Have you ever heard that saying, "If nothing changes...then nothing changes." ? Another way I have heard the same thing said is, "If you always do what you've always done, then you will always get what you have always got." It all amounts to the same thing though...it comes back to the fact that we have a choice about everything, and if we keep making the same choices, and never take a chance on making a different one, then the outcomes will be the same.

I have made many, many, many different choices in the last few years. I have taken a different road every time, I have jumped in with both feet, I have decided to choose forgiveness over bitterness and anger...so many things that I have chosen "differently' for in the last few years, and yet, I find today that there are some actions that I keep repeating.

For me, this has highlighted that while I have made the changes in small gradual steps in order to change my life and still be within a certain measure of comfort, there comes a time (which for me is now *smile) where for MAJOR difference, a MAJOR change in choices is required.

Time for a life review then...smile.

So I am looking today at all the things I love and cherish and all of the things that I am not all that fond of in my current life, and how I would see that changed to better suit my current needs. I have looked at all aspects with honesty and purity and set my intentions for a future I am constantly manifesting, but which has not yet come to fruition (well not fast enough for my liking anyway *wry grin*)

All this is well and good for the moment I am sitting in my sacred space, surrounded by pure love energy, not impacted upon by any other being except in a positive and loving way...but very soon, I will make the choice to leave this space, and once again enter a reality where other's are involved...what then?

So here;s how I am deciding to deal with that...

I have asked my team to back me up, reinforce my words and give me a REALLY STRONG (because I can be a bit stubborn) impulse to follow the new path I have chosen, rather than following in the deeply grooved path of habit. I have written little signs to go in key places that remind me of the choice I have made and my intention to do what is right for me within this new choice. Finally, I have told all of my trusted friends of my new choice and willingly given them permission to call me up and check on my progress, as well as give me a firm, human nudge (*giggle*) if I falter in my resolve or find myself loosing focus on my intentions. I have also told my brain to "stay out of it" since it's a bit lazy and would rather continuing to do what it has always done.

Love yourself, choose your path, set your intentions, call for back up from the divine, the stride forward with your head high!

Take a chance

Occupy Your Heart: Facebook page
Have you ever heard a little voice in your head telling you to, "Stop being a silly dreamer"? Has anyone in your life said something similar to you; maybe told you to "be realistic" or to "get real"? Anyone ever told you that you need to stop dreaming and get on with living in the real world? That your dreams are impossible or too far fetched? Well, then this post is dedicated to you!

There are many people in this world who have unfortunately taken upon the message that "life is not fair" you "have to work hard to get anywhere" and that it is better to dream small dreams and have success than to dream ENORMOUSLY and fail spectacularly.

This post is for you guys too.

I really love the saying, "If your dreams don't scare you, you are not dreaming big enough."

There are absolutely NO limits, criteria or restrictions on the world of possibility. If there's one thing I know with all of my heart it is that while I may take risks and chance a failure, the rewards and the successes are worth it.

Taking a chance in order to follow your heart and make your dreams manifest into reality is actually not a big risk anyway. When you commit your whole heart to a love-driven dream, the entire universe will align to assist you in getting there. Your whole divine team will jump up and down for joy and sing a song of joy and praise. You will be scared, but it is not a limiting fear, it is the pure adrenaline that precipitates great action and amazing energy and results.

After all, what have you really got to loose?

Follow your heart, ignore what "reality" your pride and experience tells you and listen to the whisperings of your heart and your divine team.

Lovingly speak your truth

As we journey along our life path, inevitably, we find some people who feel they know better than we can ourselves, what the best course of actions are, the direction we should take and the life we should lead. While these people also invariably, are one's we love like family and close friends, they are a little misguided in thinking that they would know better than we do ourselves where our life journey is taking us.

Dream stealing is not necessarily a conscious thing, in fact, on the part of most people, I think it is definitely not something they intentionally go out to do. Never the less, telling someone they are wrong about their choices and pointing out all  the faults, pitfalls and possible failures of someones ideas and dreams is not an act of love or service...plain and simple, it's dream stealing!

I'm sure you will have experienced it at least once in your life time, where you are super excited about an idea, and event or a plan. You then choose to share that plan with a trusted loved one because you want them to share in the excitement and enthusiasm with you. Then, they start to point out all "the things you haven't considered" or the ways you may fail, or they simply tell you outright you are being foolish or that you are a dreamer. This is dream stealing!

When confronted (and I say confronted because I feel this is a bit of an act of aggression regardless of the amount of love that goes with it) with a dream stealer what can you do?

My way of dealing with this situation is to lovingly speak my truth. Which is to say, I withdraw my permission for that person to comment (either out loud or in my head silently), I thank them for their advice or their loving concern, then I choose to no longer share my dreams and enthusiasms with those people and go about doing what I know is right for me regardless of their dooms-daying or fear enhancing. After all, only I can know what is best for me.

We have the power to CHOOSE whether we listen or not to people who would take our dreams from us or dampen our enthusiasm in any way. I choose not to listen, and then I choose not to share anymore.

Do as you will

I can't tell you how many times I have based my decisions on the "right thing to do" for everyone else and ignored my own needs, who I am and even some times my own identity and integrity. This has been one of the largest factors that have acted to slow my progress  along my own journey.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with honouring your own body and needs, with protecting yourself and loved ones and with sometimes saying "no" because it is the best thing for you to do for you.

One of the important things I have learnt surrounding this, is that through looking after my own needs, making sure I have time for myself to be me; just Roxanne, not Mum, healer, teacher, partner or any of the other roles I take on when necessary; just ME, is that I am able to actually give more of myself! Sounds a bit like a contradiction doesn't it? The reality is though, that when I take time out for myself and nurture myself the same way I would for others, I am able to build up resilience, strength and reserves of energy that I can use to serve myself, and others, far better in the long run.

Here's the trap though (like the traps I spoke about in yesterday's post), when you take the time for yourself and do the things that look after you, keep firmly in mind that your actions are a sign of respect for yourself, NOT a "stuff you, I'll do what I like." While this may seem like a small thing, you are signalling your intentions through the words you use. A respect for self, with a firm but loving hand in saying no to others is an act of love. Saying, "Stuff you, it's me first this time," is an act of ego.

Doing the things that make you happy is an act of love, healing and is energising. An act of love. Taking the attitude that everyone else can "go jump" comes with feelings of rejection, anger and guilt. While this may seem like it's just a word you may use, and therefore has no importance...words have power!

Cave dwelling

A very strong reminder came to me in the last few days about self preservation, conservation of energy and protecting myself, my family and my dreams. The reminder is in relation to cave dwelling. I remembered that I am only one person (and a human being at that) and that the goal of uniting the world in love and forgiveness is not a task for an individual, it is a part of all of our life purposes.

So, when the time comes that I am feeling a little weary, heart hurt or otherwise "out of action" it is important to give myself the respect and consideration I would give to anyone else in this position. My advice to someone who told me they were a bit tired and worn out from their efforts? Well, I would tell them to rest, conserve their energy and go into "hiding" for a couple of days until they felt better.

Cave dwelling is really important. It gives me time to contemplate andf reflect in solitude, to have a bit of a 'round table discussion' and strategy meeting with my divine team, to restore my energy and balance and to protect myself from becoming a little bit worn out.

Cave dwelling is important to us all at one time or another.

For me, hidding in my cave means switching off the phone, staying at home in my safe little bubble, spending time with my family and close friends and doing only those things that are essential or that I am led to naturally (cooking, writing this post, playing with the kids...that's about it). It is a time where I am me, and only me, not any of the other roles I sometimes take on in order to fulfill my tasks.

When you are feeling a little worn down and in need of a break from the world, even if you are not sure why you feel this way, then honour what your body is telling you and avoid harsh situations, confrontation and excessive work. Be calm and quiet in solitude or with a few kindred spirits and allow yourself the courtesy of time out.

Access your gifts

I really believe it is important to be wary of putting other people on a pedestal in terms of your own spiritual growth and learning. It is great that we can all learn and grow with each other and in some ways help each other to grow!!! However, I have noticed the tendency in myself once or twice, to assign value to knowledge as in those who have it, and those who don't. (What a silly thing to do *wry grin*) What this means for me then, is that i place my learning and my pathway in the hands of another for a short time, and this has some shortcomings.

We all have, encoded within us, all the knowledge we need to be our perfect and divinely inspired selves. Sometimes, a person comes along who can facilitate, accelerate or begin a change in our thinking and our growth. They may inspire us and tell us exactly what we need to hear in a given moment which then helps us to move forward etc. this does not mean though, that they are in any way, shape or form "better".

The process for me has been such that, at certain times, when I have felt a little bit stuck or scrabbling for my next step, someone has come forward to light the way a little. This person may say or do something that HELPS me to access the knowledge I have within me already; helps me to remember what I already know. This person then is a facilitator and guide and I am very grateful and humbled by the gift those people have given me as they float in and out of my life. The mistake I have sometimes made, is to think they know more than me and that I must blindly follow the path on which they lead me in order to be as knowledgeable as them.

This is really not the case.

I sincerely hope, that as you read my daily posts, that in some small way I am able to assist you in accessing your own knowledge and empower you to look within for the information you already know. You are the expert in you and no one knows the path you "should" take or the healing you need, nor the actions and goals that suit you best, better than you. I certainly don't presume to know. I know that there will be times over the last two hundred odd postings I have written her,e that you may have disagreed with what I have said, that you may find the information I have delivered doesn't fit right with you...that's excellent, because it means you are accessing your own knowledge and exercising your right to choose the path that suits you best.

I guess what I am  trying to say is that we each of us know, feel and intuit what tools we need, what path we take, and what system of belief fits us best. No one knows that better than you and while you may have assistance from others who facilitate your journey, you are still the reigning authority. No one has the right to judge nor to direct you to do something or believe something that does not fit to your plan. With gratitude and humility, take the offered assistance, however I would council avoiding placing anyone above you in terms of your own journey and growth.

Within you is the confidence and ability to shine your light on the world, and quite frankly, the world needs you as you, not a carbon copy of someone else. Your opinion is valued, you are unique and special and your journey is your own.

Whom do you look to?

You know there are times when it feels like all you want is someone to tell you you're OK, that everything will be fine, that you are beautiful and perfect and that you have made the right decision. Sometimes, all you need is someone else to have a little confidence in you and support you. When these moments come for you, who do you look to?

You see, unfortunately, some people haven't read the script so to speak; they don't know what you're really asking, which is just to be loved, comforted and supported. Those people then, may accidentally cause some hurt, because they think you are asking them to fix a problem or to criticise what you are doing or thinking or deciding. *sad face* I'm sure I am not the only person to have experienced this.

There is always someone who has read the script, and that is of course your divine team (you knew I was going to say that didn't you?) Just ask your team, they'll always say the right thing.

However, if it is human support you are looking for, then I suggest you choose carefully whom it is you look to for this kind of support. Beware the dream stealer's who might tell you the amazingly inspirational idea you've had is "silly" or "impractical". Maybe they are someone who thinks that if you need a moment of support that you're Just "being a sook" and need to get over it, or maybe they are even someone living and thinking totally from their ego and manage to turn your story into something about them.

It is important for us to connect to a loving and supportive human team as well as our divine team. I do think that it is equally important to choose that team with care. Make sure the people you have on your side love you as much as your divine team, and will support you when you need them to (and vice verca of course). You are too important, and your vision is too essential to the world community to allow someone to discourage you. Pick the "Yahoo" team; the ones who love you, and are willing to be your cheer squad when you need a little extra lift. If you come across someone who isn't able to be on the "yahoo team" then just choose not to share the total sum of you with them. It doesn't mean you can't be their friend, just that they cannot have the very special support role *smile*

Magic!?

A very sad moment for me through childhood was when the adults around me, the people I trusted the most in the world, decided I was "too old" to "humour" anymore when it came to playing faeries, talking to imaginary friends and, in short, ceasing to believe in the magic that is around us. Of course, although they told me repeatedly that there was no such thing, and made statements to other adults like, "don't worry about her, she just has an overactive imagination," and things like that, I clung to my belief in miracles, magical creatures, princesses, dragons, angels and faeries!!! I'm lucky that way I guess, I refused to accept their version of reality and now, I write and illustrate children's stories about just those very things they told me weren't real and that I would have to grow out of. *big cheesy smile*

I don't know the moment for you, or the people in your lives who thought this was best for you, I do know, and have witnessed recently this moment of "squashing" for others. I also know, at some point in everyones lives, there is someone who (for their own good) attempts to inform us that what we believe and hold dear to our hearts is nothing but a product of an overactive imagination *sad face*

I say to those people, with love, compassion and forgiveness, please don't take this away from our children, let them believe, let them hope that at some point a faery has visited them in the night and sprinkled magic dust around their heads. Let our children know they are loved and protected by benevolent divine beings who walk by their side...angels ARE real!

For those of you reading this who have been inadvertently "squashed" by moments like the one I described above; I say, get a bit rebellious about it and take the magic back!!!! I love this quote from Jamie the Myth Buster, "I reject your reality and I substitute my own." Got to love his work *smile*

Angels ARE real, they love us, support us, guide us and when necessary, carry us. I believe in magic!

Letter to the wayward souls who would try to steal my dreams

Dear, beloved, misguided, but with loving intent soul,

It is with my heartfelt forgiveness and gratitude for you entering my life, that I write this letter to you in order to set a clean slate and clear intentions.

I am humbled and grateful that you love me enough to express to me your concerns regarding my chosen life path, the decisions I have made and continue to make, and your desire to "do what's best for me." I am grateful for your love and friendship and with my whole heart thank you for your intentions.

However, your attempts at "telling me the truth for my own good" have really left me feeling a little saddened that you have chosen this method of showing me you love me. In actual fact, the words you have delivered me today, in order to "help" me have been an overt attempt to take away from me the things that make me happy. Your criticism of my choice in life path and actions are misguided since I am the only one who can tell me what the best path is. I have an entire team of divine beings who guide my footsteps and catch me if I falter, and while I appreciate your gesture towards me and see it for the loving act you intended it to be; you are NOT the one who can decide. You do not have permission to take anything from me, nor will I give you permission to offer me your "advice" on this in the future.

Your plan for me is largely irrelevant, and your picture of who I am, how I should behave and the actions I should take are exactly that...yours. This is to say that your plan, is not my plan nor the plan of my divine team.

Once again, with genuine humility, I thank you for your act of love, however, I now withdraw my permission from you to in any way, shape or form decide what is best for me, what is good for me, and to inform me of that opinion.

I am completely safe, loved and genuinely comfortable listening to the guidance of the divine.

Doubts, fears and the nay-sayers

I think sometimes it is impossible to go through life without having one person in your life that puts doubt and fear into your heart, or decides for you that the direction you have decided to take is the wrong one, and has no compunction in telling you so. Critical people exist, this is true, as do fearful and doubtful people. This does not mean that you have to join them or even let their fear infect you.

I have had quite a few people in my life who have decided that they know what is best for me, for my children and the others in my life. They have also felt it their obligation to tell me I ma making the wrong decision or doing the wrong thing and judge me, cast fear and doubt onto me and in general attempt to dissuade me from a course of action I have decided to take.

My manner of dealing with these people is (where possible) just cut them out of my life. Friends who feel it is their place to judge and criticize me don't actually last very long within my circle of friends. Sometimes this is not possible though, family for instance, is not so easily dismissed in most cases. The hardest thing about family, is that most of the time they say the things they do, and act the way they act, because they genuinely love you and are concerned about you. While their intentions are good, this does not excuse their actions though. I love and cherish my family as I do all other people, however, the same as any other person, they are not allowed to judge and criticize in a negative way. We teach people how to treat us, even if it is by saying nothing or not responding to comments made, we are implying that the other person has permission to continue.

People who try to place their own fears and doubts upon me and my actions are lovingly, yet firmly reminded that the decisions I make are mine, as are the consequences for them. While I understand that they love me and want the best for me, the only person who is qualified to make that determination is me. Usually their fears are based on their own fear, not anything to do with my circumstances at all.

Other than reminding people that it really is not their place to act in this way towards me, I usually cut the cords tying me to them (see an earlier post on finished transactions for more information on this) and then ask my divine team to remove their influence from my thinking. A very dear and special lightworker friend of mine gave me some excellent advice and a strategy to combating this situation as well. When you are unable to avoid speaking to people who are negative, nay-sayers of full of fear, focus on the plant life growing around you. Look at the plants and have their energy envelop you rather than the fear based energy of the negative person. This is a great way to help combat this situation as it arises. There are many, many methods, the best one however, is wherever possible, just choose not to interact with people who do not love you whole heartedly and without condition.

Building Resilience

One of the major areas of personal growth for me has been in building resilience to the harshness that can sometimes present itself when you are dealing with the egos of others as well as your own. Building up the capacity to reflect without harmful emotions and to move forward without excessive guilt or fear.

The process I have used successfully for this is called cord cutting. You see, each time you have an interaction with another person, they tie cords to you, and you to them. Through this cord energy is given or taken dependant on the circumstance or situation. Fear, worry and the ego of others can be transferred to you through these cords and you can begin to feel them as though they are your own.

Each night, before I go to sleep I ask Michael and Raphael to help me cut the cords that I have "gathered" during the day and from the past. I ask, "Michael please cut the cords to me today from situations past, present or future that no longer serve my higher good. Raphael please fill me with your green healing light, seal the wounds left from old hurts and injuries, help me to feel whole and well." I imagine that a great purple light enfolds me, gently slicing through any cords attached to me leaving me free of any ties to others. I then imagine a bright, healing green light filling me up through a space between my eyes until I am overflowing. I imagine the light travelling through every part of my body scouring away anything harmful (either physical or spiritual).

Since I started this process nearly two years ago, I have noticed that I am more and more resilient to the world we currently live in, and am becoming immune to the fear and worry and ego placed on me from others. I am less susceptible to listening to my own ego and more able to take a stance from a position of love and forgiveness. I believe this is an ongoing work, that this process will continue every night, and as each day passes, and I cut the cords tied to me by others and that I have tied to others, that i become more and more resilient, and more my true self.

Energy takers

As light workers, we all do what we can for the people around us. I know I cannot walk away or turn my back on someone who requires support or help that I can offer. Sometimes though, it is a case of giving an inch and others taking a mile. This can be either conscious or an unconscious act. Either way, it can take it's toll on you physically and emotionally.

I have found at times that i am using a lot of energy in my healing work where it is simply not necessary to do so. Generally speaking, it is not my energy I use, I use the assistance of the divine team I work with (with their permission and instruction of course) so I am not tired at the end of a day healing. The times when I feel wrung out like an old dish rag are the times when people are taking energy from me without permission.

This does not mean the other person is a "bad" person, in fact, they are quite likely unaware that they are doing it. This doesn't mean it should be allowed to continue either.

There are some strategies you can use when you are around people who take energy from you that will nullify the effects.

Build a shield around yourself consciously before any encounter with others you perceive as being difficult to work with, or who leave you with a feeling of tiredness or frustration once the conversation/encounter ends. Imagine a shining light (I always use purple light, but the colour choice is up to you) surrounding you and then hardening to form a crystalline shell. Reinforce this shield mentally by describing what it is for. For example, "Shield me from the negative energies of others, only love energy can pass this barrier. This shield protects me from those who would take my energy without my permission."

When you are in the presence of someone who would take your energy, take deep, cleansing breaths. Breathe really deeply so that you can feel it in the bottom of your lungs. A good way to practice this, is to lie flat on your back and take a big breath. When you lie on your back, you are forced into breathing correctly and into the bottom of your lungs. Remember this feeling and emulate it while standing. In doing this deep breathing, you are protecting yourself from the energy of others.

It also helps to verbally deny this person permission. Not to them, remember they are most likely unaware of what they are doing. State out loud to yourself, or inside your head, "I withdraw permission for you to take my energy."

Then, most importantly, forgive them for doing this. It is more than likely an accident on their part, and even if it is not, the only true thoughts and actions come from a place of love. Taking energy from you is not the correct choice, however all creatures are deserving of love, compassion and forgiveness. In forgiveness, we strengthen our own being and lessen the impact of negativity.

It is not allowable for people to take what they want from you without your consent, it is very easy to withdraw your permission for them to do so; and strengthen your shield of protection through forgiveness and deep breathing.

Moving forward fearlessly

Life is the biggest and most exciting adventure. The more you learn to trust your instincts and the messages delivered to you from your heart, the more wonderful the journey becomes. In the moment though, when you know the difference between what you want to be doing and what you are actually doing, there can come a time of fear and anxiety.

The ego is very clever in these moments at putting thoughts inside your head like, "What if this is the wrong decision?" "How will I pay my bills?" "But this is a secure job and I like most of it?" and other assorted statements relating to your situation. These thoughts really are fear and nothing else.

The only things that are real are those that come from a source of love. Things that emanate from fear are actually our imagination making the worse case scenario real. We choose what happens around us and to us, we choose the life we lead. Our heart and soul are pure and free from fear, it is only our ego that attempts to get us to manifest our worse nightmares and our fears.

This is something that requires conscious acknowledgement and determination to get past. It is only through knowing your heart's desires and knowing the things you fear that you can dismiss them and move forward without fear, knowing, that when you decide to follow your heart, the universe will do everything to assist you.

I hear a saying once; fear is False Evidence Appearing Real!

This is the truth of fear. Things we are afraid of are of our own making, things we fear to do, are not always harmful, in fact may be the exact direction we need to be going. Fear has many guises; it is a tightening of the stomach muscles, it is shortness of breath, it is sweating and fever, it is anxiety, depression, angst, shaking, butterflies in the tummy, weak knees, cruel words; all of these things are fear.

Fear is created; this means it can be dismissed. Listen to the messages your body is telling you and discover a genuine feeling that your person is at risk (example; walking down a dark alley, at night, alone) and things that are not a genuine risk (example, public speaking and spiders).

The things that make you fearful, even though you are not at risk at all, require your attention. One way to eliminate fear is to hold it up to scrutiny. I ask myself a series of questions whenever fear makes me hesitate:

1. Is this a genuine fear? Am I at risk?
2. What is it exactly that I am afraid of?
3. If this fear eventuated, what are the worst things that can happen?
4. What would happen if I stepped around this fear and moved on anyway?
5. Where does this fear come from? Is it mine or someone else's?
6. Who can I ask to support me rather than feed my fears?

When I have answered these questions for myself, in a quiet and contemplative way, I usually find the fear has either evaporated or become small and insignificant. Most of our fears are of things we don't know about. If you examine a fear, turn it every which way in your mind's eye, and make it come out of the dark, it's not scary anymore. Couple this action with trust and faith (in yourself) and the fear disappears; you walk forward on your journey fearlessly and with the courage of your convictions!

Archangel Michael, please shield me from negative energy and from the influences of ego. Guide my footsteps on the path of my divine and perfect journey. Hold my hand if I falter and protect me always.
